Blake Shelton Cancels Tour Dates After His Father's Death

Condolences are in order for country star Blake Shelton, whose father Dick Shelton died Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Shelton, 35, has postponed some of the remaining January concert dates on his Well Lit & Amplified tour in order to attend to his family as he mourns his father's death. His scheduled upcoming shows in Bismark, N.D., Rapid City, S.D., Bozeman, Mont., and Billings, Mont. have been postponed until the end of March. His regular tour schedule will resume in Columbus, Ga., on Jan. 26.

The Voice judge explained his decision on his website the night his dad died.

"Mr. [Dick] Shelton, who was in declining health this past year, was surrounded by loved ones in Oklahoma upon his passing this evening. I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time and thank you for all your prayers. Your support means the world to me. I love you guys."

Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert also canceled her weekend shows in Kentucky and North Carolina to stay with her grieving husband.

Lambert, 28, didn't want to disappoint her fans, but she told them she needed to be with Shelton and her in-laws during this sad time.

"Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers," she said in a statement. "This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together."

We send our own deepest condolences to Shelton, his wife Lambert and the rest of his family.
