When we fantasize about having Blake Shelton at our wedding, he's usually the groom -- but Kelly Clarkson had a good idea, too. The "Stronger" singer, who became engaged to Brandon Blackstock in December, is hiring Shelton to do double duty: perform at her wedding and officiate it.
"He's not only singing, he's marrying us," Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight at the Academy of Country Music Awards. "He totally is, he's done it before with people."
Apparently, the Voice judge is a pretty popular guy at weddings; he is also officiating the wedding ceremony of Ashley Monroe, who is in the band Pistol Annies with Blake's wife Miranda Lambert.
Blake Shelton is not the only celebrity who gets a kick out of saying "you may now kiss the bride." In fact, we're sensing a trend! Here are 5 other stars who have officiated weddings for their famous friends.
Victor Garber - He played Jennifer Garner's father on Alias, and in 2005, Garber became ordained specifically to perform her wedding to Ben Affleck.
Ian McKellen - X-Men fans were bowled over when McKellen announced he'd be marrying his cinematic nemesis Patrick Stewart. "I’ve done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership. I was crying my eyes out," McKellan told The Hollywood Reporter. Stewart's wedding, to jazz singer Sunny Ozell, is set to take place in 2013.
Deepak Chopra - The guru-to-the-stars joined musicians Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz in holy matrimony in 2010.
Emma Stone - At 24 years old, Stone had the responsibility of officiating the wedding of her Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer and her publicist Holly Shakoor this past November. "They always credited Emma with them finding each other, so having her officiate the wedding was a no brainer," a wedding guest told Us Weekly.
Jeff Probst - The Survivor host took a break from cutthroat eliminations to preside over the 2010 marriage of The Office star Jenna Fischer and writer Lee Kirk.
Want to join in the trend and have a celebrity do your wedding? Kathy Griffin, Kevin Smith and Tori Spelling have all taken gigs performing weddings for fans. And hey, we hear Lindsay Lohan is short on cash these days...
