Earth Week is this April 22nd through the 26th and that gives us here at iVillage the perfect reason to delve into one of our favorite subjects -- DIY. We recently conducted a poll with our friends at TODAY that confirmed what we expected -- everyone wants to do more to help the enviroment, but tightening budgets and hectic schedules always seems to get in the way. Three-fourths of our respondents actually said they'd prefer to grow their own veggies rather than buy organic produce -- and we feel the same way!
To get us started, we've rounded up the coolest, cutest, easiest, smartest and cheapest do-it-yourself ideas and tips from our favorite bloggers. Want to gussy up that old skirt? Geneva Vanderzeil of A Pair & A Spare shows us how. Hesitant to throw out those old hardbacks? Michelle at A Little Tipsy transforms them into fun bookshelves. What do with old jean hems? Polka Dot Pineapple says we make coasters, of course.
