'Boston Legal' Star Dead at 27

Boston Legal star Justin Mentell lost his life Monday after his Jeep swerved off a road in rural Blanchardville, Wis. and crashed into two trees. It is believed that he fell asleep on at the wheel. According to the Associated Press, he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Mentell, who was 27, played attorney Garrett Wells on the ABC show from 2005 to 2006. He appeared in last summer's G-Force with Nicholas Cage.

His former Boston Legal costar William Shatner Twittered about the young actor's death on Tuesday.

"I'm deeply saddened to hear about Justin Mentell," Shatner wrote. "There's no telling how far up the ladder he may have climbed. My sympathies to his family."
