Sure, he’s got Angelina Jolie, a half-dozen kids and slew of Oscar nods, but Brad Pitt has got something else: a passion to help people in need while helping the Earth at the same time. Pitt didn’t grow up in Louisiana, but was so moved by the destruction he saw in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina he vowed to do all he could to help. Pitt made good on his promise and launched Make it Right, a non-profit working toward building 150 green, affordable, high-quality design homes in the The Big Easy’s devastated Lower Ninth Ward, which lost more than 4,000 homes. Today, 14 families live in completed Make It Right homes, with many more under construction. The homes are made of non-toxic, reusable materials and include features such as solar panels and rain catchers. "We’re cracking the code on affordable green housing," Pitt once told O, The Oprah Magazine. Go Brad!
