We knew that Brad Pitt could handle an army of kids -- but it turns out that an army of zombies is no sweat either! According to U.K. paper the Scottish Sun, Pitt became a real-life hero last week on the set of his new film, when he saved a woman from being trampled by hundreds of actors playing zombies.

The incident took place in Glasgow, Scotland, where the actor is shooting the horror film World War Z. More than 700 actors were gathered in the street for a climactic zombie invasion scene. When the director called "action," the crowd of extras began running from their undead attackers -- which is when one extra stumbled and fell, as the crowd hurdled towards her. Fortunately, Pitt was paying attention. He grabbed the astonished woman and brought her to safety. A witness describes the scene as "total chaos."

"(Actors) were banging into moving cars, cameras and military who were carrying heavy machine guns," the insider tells the Scottish Sun. "Lots of people hurt themselves, and Brad came to the rescue of a woman who slipped. I don't think she could believe it when Brad picked her up."

The grateful woman emerged from the scene with only a "badly-grazed knee." But according to the Sun, it's one of many injuries that have been suffered on the set of the action-packed film. One extra was hospitalized for whiplash when a camera crashed through the windshield of a truck; another woman broke a rib. And, on Thursday, a group of children were reportedly "sent flying" during a staged fight with soldiers. Still, one actor says it's all part of the job.

"We've signed up for an action-packed blockbuster... There are going to be bumps and bruises along the way," a performer tells The Sun.

And working with Pitt is a nice perk. "Filming with Brad Pitt is surreal -- but he's a top bloke," he adds. "There's big pressure, but he puts you at ease by just looking you in the eye."

The actor also says that Pitt's heroics didn't surprise him "one bit." So now that Pitt has braved the zombies and Ryan Gosling broke up a New York City street fight, which Hollywood hottie will be next to flex his hero muscles?
