Rob Lowe: Then

The blue-eyed heartthrob (pictured in 1985) made his mark early on with a Golden Globe-nominated performance in the 1983 TV movie Thursday's Child. His first big-screen role was alongside fellow Brat Packer Emilio Estevez in 1983's The Outsiders, and the two reunited in St. Elmo's Fire. Lowe also romanced Demi Moore in About Last Night, and proved that his acting skills matched his popularity with teen girls when he earned another Golden Globe nomination for the 1987 film Square Dance (in which he played opposite relative newcomer Winona Ryder).

During that time, Lowe was also a tabloid staple: He had a torrid on-off relationship with Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert (Gilbert revealed in her 2009 autobiography that she suffered a miscarriage when they broke up), and was involved in a career-sullying 1988 sex tape scandal.
