The scandalous meltdown of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's relationship has been tough on Twilight fans. But as far as Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon is concerned, Kristen and Rob have earned fans' loyalty.
"The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it's not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that," Condon tells Entertainment Weekly in their new Fall Movie Preview issue. "Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon."
"Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it's time that some of that respect be returned to them," concludes Condon (who directed Stewart and Pattinson in Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2, which hits theaters Nov. 16).
So now we've heard from the director. We've also read the apologetic statements from Stewart and the married man she stepped out with, Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Now, when will we hear from Pattinson? Earlier this week, we learned that R-Pattz would be making his first public appearance live on Good Morning America on Wednesday, Aug. 15. However, it turns out we'll be seeing him even sooner, when he drops by The Daily Show on Aug. 13. Both appearances are intended to promote his new film, Cosmopolis, so he may not say much about his personal life. But since it's all anybody's talking about, he's bound to say something.
On a related note, a new report says that Rob and Kristen are speaking again... sort of.
"He's been drunk dialing Kristen," a friend tells In Touch of Pattinson. "Rob had been avoiding her calls, but now they’re talking … well, they’re barely talking. There’s a lot of dead silence on the phone because there’s not a lot to talk about."
Not a lot to talk about? We've been talking about it for two weeks!
