Breastfeeding: Normal to Leak Colostrum in Mid Pregnancy?

I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first child and I noticed that I am now leaking a clearish fluid from both nipples. Am I leaking colostrum already?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Yes, it is quite normal for your breasts to begin producing colostrum sometime between the fourth to sixth month of pregnancy. Not all women will leak colostrum.

Nursing pads that are 100 percent cotton can be used inside of your bra if the leaking becomes bothersome. When showering, rinse your nipples gently with warm water. Do not use soap, because it can be too drying and irritating. My very best wishes!
