Poison frontman and Celebrity Apprentice contestant Bret Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy on Monday, after being rushed to the hospital with severe stomach pains.
The rocker was scheduled to perform in San Antonio, Tex., but when his stomach discomfort became intense, he headed to a hospital to get treated for what he thought was the flu.
Since the appendectomy, Michaels "remains in the hospital, is doing well and beginning the recovery process," his rep says. "Michaels, who has been known to perform under extreme conditions that would make most performers cancel, will unfortunately have no choice but to reschedule some of his April tour dates."
The former Rock of Love star certainly seems like a trooper -- he's a diabetic and gives himself insulin shots and checks his blood sugar four to six times a day. He also made headlines when he was struck by a piece of a stage set during the 2009 Tony Awards, an incident which resulted in a broken nose.
