Bret Michaels might just be getting closer to placing a rock (of love) on the finger of his long-time girlfriend, Kristi Gibson.
"We've been talking a lot about getting engaged, and we'll see what happens," the rocker/reality star told People. "We just want to make sure we're not doing it for anyone other than ourselves."
Michaels, 47, and Gibson, 39, have been dating on-and-off for 16 years and have two daughters together, Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, 5. The rocker says during his Rock of Love the odds of him proposing to Gibson were "1 in 100" -- but now they've increased to "50/50."
Michaels says his relationship with Gibson has only grown stronger since his near-death scare from the brain hemorrhage he suffered in April. "Fate has a strange way of intervening in your life, and I think everything just kind of came together," he said. "Hopefully we'll get engaged. But if we don't, we'll still love and respect each other."
It was rumored over this year's July 4th weekend that the two had already gotten engaged, but that turned out to be hearsay. At the time, a source close to Michaels said he had woken up and was ready to be a husband.
