Bret Michaels lives his life in the fast lane -- hospital recoveries included! Less than two weeks ago, we were worried that Michaels, 47, might not bounce back from a frightening medical crisis -- a brain hemorrhage -- that landed him in the ICU. But as of Tuesday, he's out of the hospital and reportedly on his way to a full recovery.
Still, the rocker isn't out of the woods yet. At a press conference at the Phoenix hospital where Michaels has been treated, neurosurgeon Joseph Zambraski said that the Poison frontman is "still very sick right now." The Rock of Love star continues to suffer from hyponatremia (a sodium deficiency that can lead to seizures), as well as muscle spasms and back pain. However, based on the tenacity Michaels showed in the hospital, Dr. Zambraski expressed confidence that he would make a total recovery. "He's a very determined person," the doctor said. Dr. Zambraski added that Michaels' case is unusual: "He's just one of those lucky people -- 10 to 20 percent who make a complete recovery and can resume all of their normal activities."
In the case of Bret Michaels, his "normal activities" include touring with his rock show and appearing on network TV. Famously loyal to his fans, Michaels has already announced plans to resume his interrupted concert tour by May 26. But we don't yet know whether he'll be appearing on the live finale of The Celebrity Apprentice on May 23rd. Given his stellar performance so far, many viewers have predicted him to win -- but even if he doesn't earn a big Trump-signed check for the American Diabetes Association, his recovery from a near-death scare has already inspired patients everywhere.
