A slow and steady recovery doesn't seem to fit into Bret Michaels' rock 'n roll lifestyle. The rocker/reality star -- a diabetic who had a scary brush with death last month when he suffered a brain hemorrhage -- is reportedly trying to get back onto the concert stage, and back onto TV, as soon as possible.

Michaels, 47, "is pushing himself for what would likely be a dramatic first public appearance at the May 23 finale of The Celebrity Apprentice," according to People. A source told the mag that Michaels is still in rehab as he recovers from his recent hospitalization, but is eager to speed up the process.

In addition to wanting to stop by The Celebrity Apprentice finale, Michaels reportedly wants to rejoin his band Poison for the rest of their "Roses & Thorns" tour -- and allegedly wants to get back on the road by May 28, for a show date at the Hard Rock in Mississippi. The singer had to leave the tour on April 12 when he had an emergency appendectomy.

And if Michaels does get back on the road (the source says the musician "sounds good" lately), tour bus drivers will reportedly make sure they know the closest routes to area hospitals. We still think resting is a better option than rocking out, especially for a guy who just last week acknowledged he's "lucky to be alive"!
