Turns out, Michaels, who this year alone has suffered a terrifying brain hemorrhage and a "warning stroke", will have to undergo heart surgery in January 2011 to correct a "patent foramen ovale", or, a hole in his heart.
The rocker turned reality star's publicist confirmed to E! that the surgery will be for, "The hole his heart," adding, "I don't know any specifics." Turns out, it was discovered by doctors when he had the stroke. But, it was neither the stroke nor the hemorrhage that caused it, rather the "operable and curable" condition was something Michaels was born with.
But, once again Michaels won't be giving himself much rest after the surgery (he got back on the road with his band Poison just weeks after getting out of the hospital.) The father of two will be on the road again, but this time to promote his upcoming autobiography Roses & Thorns: The Reality of My Rock & Roll.
His publicist says Michaels will begin the book tour on March 15, which just so happens to be his 48th birthday. He explains, "After the holidays, he'll do (the surgery) and then have time to heal before the whole book publicity campaign."
