When Bristol Palin stepped out at an April 30 afterparty for the White House Correspondents Association dinner, heads turned. It wasn't just because she was sporting a new slimmed-down physique, or a Kim Kardashian-inspired 'do; there seemed to be something different about the shape of Palin's face. Her angular chin caused the most chatter -- leading people to speculate that the 20-year-old had undergone some sort of plastic surgery.
Now, the Dancing with the Stars alum has broken her silence to set the record straight, admitting to US Weekly that she's had "corrective jaw surgery." But don't call it "plastic surgery" -- Palin insists that the procedure was done "for medical reasons."
The young mom -- she has 2-year-old son Tripp with ex-fiancé Levi Johnston -- says that she had the surgery in December 2010 so that her "jaw and teeth could properly realign," adding that, "I do not obssess over my face."
That said, Palin confesses that the procedure has "improved" her looks, saying, "I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I look older, more mature, and don't have as much of a chubby little baby face!"
Could it be that the pressures of fame have gotten to Bristol Palin? What with Johnston's reported tell-all book in the works, and a new Bio Channel reality show sure to up her profile even more, Palin could be feeling the adverse effects of constant media scrutiny. We've seen what can happen when the desire for plastic surgery is allowed to run amok (i.e.: Heidi Montag), and we can only hope that Bristol doesn't take the same route.
"Medical reasons" or no, we think she looks beautiful just the way she is!
