Bristol Palin's life must feel like a mad tea party, indeed. At 19, she's a busy single mom to her 17-month-old Tripp, an advocate for teen abstinence, and she's repeatedly mentioned in the press in connection with her famous mom, Sarah Palin. In a new Harper's Bazaar interview, Bristol talks about her son Tripp, his fame-seeking dad Levi Johnston, and her sacrifices as a teen mom.
Palin, known for promoting teen abstinence to the likes of Oprah Winfrey or the hosts of the Today show, says, "I love my baby more than anything. He's like a Gerber baby. He's the cutest baby in the whole world."
While she may be grateful for her son, she certainly isn't pleased with his father, Levi Johnston, 20. Johnston, who has fully taken advantage of his new found fame, including posing for Playgirl magazine, doesn't register much with Palin. "He is a stranger to me," she says, insisting, "One day I will find a nice guy."
The daughter of the GOP's 2008 vice-presidential candidate traded "normal" teen years and dreams of college to have a child, under intense scrutiny. "It was kind of humiliating," she tells the magazine, recalling, "Great, I'm 17 years old, I'm 40 pounds overweight with a big belly on me, all my friends are at school watching this on the news. This kind of sucks."
The Alaskan teen, currently attending community college and working as a medical assistant at a dermatologist's office, admits, "I thought I would be somewhere warm at college with my friends....But that was definitely not possible with having Tripp." The young mom just purchased her own condo (she insists, "I'm on my own. I'm really proud of it. I'm a hard worker") in Anchorage, and acknowledges, "I don’t ever have time for friends or anything like that."
