Britney Spears might be headed to primetime, y'all! According to The Hollywood Reporter, a "highly placed source" says that her fiancee, talent agent Jason Trawick, is negotiating a $10-million deal for her to sit on the judging panel of The X Factor during its second season.
"I'm fascinated by Britney," gushed Simon Cowell to reporters via a conference call last week. "The fact that she's one of the most talked about -- not just pop stars, but people -- in the world today means that you've got this star power. She's still hot, she’s still having hit records, and she's still controversial. There's a reason for that."
Cowell may sound like Britney's biggest cheerleader, but the feeling may soon be mutual. If the very determined Brit signs off on the deal with the singer, Spears will become one of the highest earners on reality TV. She'll rank just behind Jennifer Lopez, who, according to Rolling Stone, scored $12 million for her second season on American Idol.
Truth be told, Simon Cowell has asked a handful of top-brand singers to join his show. Ever since Cowell dropped Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger from the judging panel (after the show's first season underperformed in the ratings), the rumor mill has churned out names like Beyonce, Pink and Fergie to replace them. Janet Jackson was "very flattered" at the offer, but declined because she has a tour lined up, and Mariah Carey is busy with her twins.
