Little did Brittany Kerr know that one little kiss would blow up in her face so much.
The season 11 American Idol contestant was snapped kissing married country music singer Jason Aldean, 35, during a party at The Den of Hollywood in West Hollywood. He has since come out and apologized, but now it's Kerr's turn to face the public.
"The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part," Kerr says in a statement to TMZ. "I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends and family."
Kerr -- who's a cheerleader for the Charlotte Bobcats -- then did the best thing to get her out of the limelight (and angry fans' radars): She shut down her Twitter account.
Sources close to Kerr told TMZ that she had no idea Aldean was married and would have "shut the whole thing down from the start" had she known that little detail.
Aldean was quick to make his own apology after he was photographed locking lips with Kerr. He took to his official website on Sept. 30 to let fans know what he did was a mistake.
"The truth is that I screwed up," he wrote. "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story."
Aldean continued, "I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."
The "Take a Little Ride" singer has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery, since 2001. They are parents to Keeley, 9, and Kendyl, 5.
