Once again, the holiday season is not so happy for Brooke Mueller. Nearly two years after her terrifying Christmas day fight with then-husband Charlie Sheen, Mueller has been arrested for cocaine possession and assault.
According to E! News, the incident took place on Friday night in Aspen, Colo., when a woman at a concert venue reported that she'd been assaulted and identified Mueller as her assailant. Police tracked down the ex-Mrs. Sheen at a nearby nightclub, where she was found to be carrying a large enough quantity of cocaine to be charged with possession with intent to distribute (which is a felony).
Mueller was released from jail Saturday morning on $11,000 bail -- which, according to RadarOnline, was posted by her ex-husband (and sometimes-boyfriend) Sheen.
Mueller, who is the mother of Sheen's 2-year-old twin boys, Bob and Max, has a history of substance abuse that includes two prior arrests: a 2001 cocaine possession charge (later dropped) and a 1996 DUI bust. In the past two years, she has actively fought her addictions with several stints in rehab. She completed an outpatient program this spring in an attempt to regain custody of her children from Sheen, followed by a second stay at an inpatient program this summer.
Given her attempts to stay clean, this latest incident has the people close to Mueller especially worried.
"Brooke can't stay sober on her own," a friend tells People. "Maybe this (arrest) will force her to go into a treatment center for a long stay... Her family has been trying to get her to do this, now maybe the court will force her to get the help she needs!"
Another insider tells RadarOnline that Mueller's family isn't speaking to her unless she agrees to go back into rehab -- and even refused to post her bail.
"Brooke's family is done with her, she has to get straight or she is going to die," says the source.
Last time Mueller went into rehab, she was reportedly motivated by watching herself break down on the Paris Hilton reality show The World According to Paris. It sounds like she could use another kick in the pants; can somebody please book her an appearance on Keeping Up with the Kardashians?
