Outdoor Lighting: Hanging Solar Lanterns

In addition to being very energy efficient, solar lighting is just plain easy. No special wiring is needed to make solar lights work. These eco-friendly lights have built-in solar panels that power up rechargeable batteries; after a good charging in the bright sun, the built-in lights cast a soft glow all night long.

For a party, take extra precaution and put the lights in a sunny spot to charge throughout the day. After they have powered up, run a rope between trees and hang the lights on metal hooks above the serving table so they provide a soft glow. You can also just set them right on the table or on the ground. If you have lots of lights, make a pathway through the garden or park.
