Olympic Highlight: Bruce Jenner became the fastest man in history when he set the decathlon world record in the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics. Placing third in the decathlon at the 1972 U.S. Olympic trials, and later only tenth place in the Munich Games, Jenner finally propelled himself to international fame at the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics. There, he not only won the gold, but also set the then world record of 8,634 points in the grueling ten track and field events that make up the decathlon.
