Before he embarks on a huge tour with his boy bandmates, Backstreet Boys member A.J. McLean has decided that he needs a little help and has checked himself back into rehab.
"For personal reasons, I've checked myself into a rehab clinic," McLean says in a statement. "With 2011 being a busy year for Backstreet, I want to be healthy and perform and sing for people at my very best and happiest. None of this will affect our current tour plans and I look forward to seeing everyone really soon! Thank you for all of your support and respecting my family and friends privacy during this time."
This will be McLean's third stint in rehab, as he was treated for depression, anxiety and alcohol abuse both in 2001 and 2002.
The singer gave no reason as to why he was getting help this time around, but he recently dropped clues that this was coming.
"Its gonna be a great year!" the 33-year-old twittered on Sunday. "I love u all and wish me luck! I start my sober journey tomm!" Then, on Monday, he posted, "See u on the other side!"
Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block have teamed up and plan to hit the road together for a huge summer tour, so we commend McLean for taking the necessary steps to get himself together.
