Building Raised Beds

I live in NYC and have a (rare) huge porch. Last year I used old dresser drawers as beds for my veggies, but the winter was hard and they have crumbled. Any ideas for nice but inexpensive big beds?

Question:

Clever idea you had about using old drawers. I bet it looked wonderful. This year, why not build your own raised beds? You can certainly buy the material at any home center store. Cedar would be a great wood to use but if that is too expensive, then use another wood...but make sure it is NOT chemically treated (I believe pressure-treated wood is). Mail order sources also sell them prebuilt...if you don't have the time or desire!
