iVillage: What was your big turning point-either during the show or before that made you realize you needed to lose the weight?
My husband was deployed to Afghanistan and I was alone raising seven children and it occurred to me that my children could lose one parent to war and one to obesity. That was the turning point.

iVillage: What is one thing you wish you had known before going on The Biggest Loser?
The mental and personal aspect. I was prepared for the physical demands, but wasn’t prepared for the thorough personal introspection I have done.

Did you watch the show before becoming a contestant? Were there any contestants that inspired you?
Andrea Baptista from season one because she had such an amazing work ethic and I really wanted to be that strong.

If you could have done one thing differently during the show, what would it be?
Paid closer attention to my body and not let my leg injury get as bad as it did.

What’s the hardest thing to adapt to while living on the ranch?
Living with a lot of different people 24/7.

What keeps you motivated when you don’t feel like working out or you want to eat junk food?
This journey is now my new lifestyle. This isn’t a fad diet -- it's who I am so I look at each day as a challenge to be stronger and better than the day before. It's not about deprivation or just getting to a number on the scale.

What’s your favorite workout?
Running

What’s the best advice Bob or Jillian gave you?
Finish what you start.

What’s your favorite healthy meal or snack?
Laughing Cow Cheese

What’s something viewers at home wouldn’t know from watching the show?
How caring Jillian is. She is as tough as nails but also has a heart of gold and pushes us because she cares about us.

I did not really have a turning point.

iVillage: What is one thing you wish you had known before going on The Biggest Loser?
That there were coyotes on the ranch!

Did you watch the show before becoming a contestant?  Who inspired you?
Yes, I watched the show before. I was inspired by Shay because she kept on working on her weight loss even after her finale.

If you could have done one thing differently during the show, what would it be?
Nothing. I believe everything happens for a reason.

What keeps you motivated when you don’t feel like working out or you want to eat junk food?
I think of my brother Edwin, who used to say, "Do work, son. Do work."

What’s your favorite workout?
Spinning!

What’s your favorite healthy snack?
Almond Butter on GG Toast

What’s something viewers at home wouldn’t know from watching the show?
The kitchen was always a mess!
