Our Halloween candy coma has barely begun, but we're already anticipating two new sweet releases coming in 2014.
Nestle is planning to launch Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups in January -- just in time for your New Year’s resolution to eat more candy.
"It’s the classic peanut butter cup," Jeremy Vandervoet of Nestle USA told TODAY.com, "only Butterfingerized." Think crunchy candy bar mixed with gooey peanut butter coated in milk chocolate. In other words, yum.
With this new treat, Nestle is trying to tread on Hershey’s territory and their ubiquitous Reese’s crimped confections. But, really, the more, the merrier.
Hershey's is countering -- sorta -- with chewy goodness. The chocolate giant will debut soft caramel cremes, called Lancasters, at the same time, according to Foodbeast. And it’s kind of a big deal since it’s the first time in 30 years the company has released a new candy.
The name is a shout-out to Milton Hershey’s first candy company -- the Lancaster Caramel Co., and the caramels will be available in three flavors: vanilla caramel, caramel, and vanilla raspberry.
