Box office bottom line: Beyonce as Etta James, Mos Def as Chuck Berry, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters... while modern movie audiences may not be familiar with those musical stars, they know the contemporary stars playing them, and that makes the history lesson of the movie more interesting.
