Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake may be real-life exes, but that didn't stop them from getting up close and very personal while filming the upcoming comedy Bad Teacher. In fact, Diaz says that the two, who dated from 2003 to 2006, are now such good pals that they were totally fine sharing what she hopes is the "creepiest sex scene" on record.
In the film, Diaz, 38, and Timberlake, 30, play two people who really have nothing in common: She's a foul-mouthed, money-grubbing teacher out to seduce his rich, clueless substitute so she can quit the classroom for good. So the pair felt it was important to make their sex scene, in which they get it on while fully clothed, as strange and hilarious as possible.
"There was a lot of laughter," Diaz tells Access Hollywood of filming the awkward coupling. "We had a lot of fun doing that because it's just so absurd. And we committed to making it sort of the creepiest sex scene you've ever seen!" Just how creepy is it? "There's no chemistry between these two people," she says. "It's like your skin is kind of crawling."
While there's no chemistry between the two characters, Cameron (whose romance with Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is going strong despite reports that they'd split) says that she and Justin (who is newly single and very eligible) still get along just fine. And their shared history was all the more conducive to them truly going for broke in Bad Teacher's racy scenes.
"You already know what the situation is and there's total safety in that and the comfort in that," Diaz says. "It wouldn't have been the same had it been some dude I just met like three months before and was kind of flirty with, the idea of possibly doing it without my jeans on. You know what I mean? So that would have been awkward and weird."
Fully-clothed simulated lovemaking may not have caused Cameron and Justin to bat an eye, but Diaz sure hopes it's a strange -- but enjoyable -- experience for the audience. "(The scenes are) really, really weird, but that's the beauty. That's what we knew Justin would bring to part -- something totally unique."
Bad Teacher brings its singular brand of non-naked sexual comedy to a theater near you June 24.
