Candy Spelling Disses Granddaughter on Birthday

We told about all the fabulous things that Stella McDermott had at her first birthday party, but, still, there was one thing missing -- her grandma.
Candy Spelling bailed on Tori Spelling daughter's bash at the last minute, sources say. After Tori bit the bullet and invited her cold-hearted mother to the party (even though they can't stand each other), Candy just decided not to go.
"She wanted to give Candy an opportunity to see her grandchildren," a Tori pal told People.com. "It was her daughter's first birthday and she wanted her own mom to be there.
Candy had RSVP-ed that she would be there, but just never showed. "Tori didn't know until after the fact that she wasn't coming," the insider said. "She was waiting for her mom to arrive but she didn't end up showing."
Candy's peeps say that the devil woman decided not to go when she found out that the party was being filmed for Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood -- and that she did inform Tori she wouldn't be there.
"Candy was so excited to be invited to the party," says her spokesperson, "but then she found out it wasn't to be at Tori's home, but at a house rented by the production. So it was clear, it was for Tori's show."
Her rep says Candy "agonized over whether to go or not," but ultimately sent Tori and email that morning. "Candy felt like she had to say 'no'. She wrote to her daughter that she wanted to do something privately with Tori and her family."
Tori's peeps say Candy knew in advance that the party was being filmed, and was told she wouldn't be on camera if she didn't want to be.
"Tori took a step to reach out," a pal said. "Tori is not preventing her mom from seeing her kids. People think she's preventing her mother from seeing the kids, but she does invite her."
I really feel bad for Tori -- her mother really seems like the biggest nightmare on the planet. And after saying that Tori's behavior is what killed her dad, Aaron Spelling, I would invite her to a party only to punch in the mouth when she got there.
