Hootie Hoo, everyone! I am so excited to actually put fingers to keyboard as we embark on this new adventure together. This is my first blog...well, my first blog with my name on it. Up to this point, I’ve been invited to contribute to other blogs, and I’ve answered questions on message boards...but actually knowing that I’m going to check in on the regular with folks ready and waiting to read my entries (hopefully)—never before.
My intention here is to empower you, and to remind you that "cooking with love" is not just a line but a tangible ingredient. Do you remember your grandmother (or grandfather) making a simple dish and you thinking it was the best...EVER? It was the love of them wanting to make it for you that tipped the scale to yummy!, awesome!, I want MORE of that! Great recipes alone do not make great food, but a big open heart can make a grilled cheese sing.
Too many people purchase cookbooks and download recipes only to shy away from trying them. Then again, you could be one of those folks who just likes to read the recipes and look at the pictures. That’s cool too, but I want to free you from the fear of recipes and encourage you to dig in and try new things. I want to hear stories about your kitchen successes and how a recipe inspired you, not bound you. I want this blog to be about accessibility and illustrating to you, the readers, that recipes, sourcing locally and entertaining for large groups should not be feared but embraced if approached correctly. I will continue to share stories about my catering experiences—the successes and the near-misses. Sometimes it’s the near-misses that teach me the most, and a better dish is born.
This is just an introduction for now. Until next time...
