What do you have in your wallet?
Carmen: Too many receipts (tax deductions!); photos of my girl, hubby and multitude of sisters; my ID and ID for my daughter, who is so blonde that people question if she's really mine (thank goodness she can speak now!). For cards, I have an old-fashioned ATM card (I don't believe in debit), a gold AmEx that I use for everything and pay off in full every month (points!), a MasterCard and Visa, and a couple of twenties and ones for the rare but essential cash-only purchase.
In what ways are you a cheapskate?
Carmen: I am a monster when it comes to electronics. I will scour the ends of the universe to save money on a gadget, computer equipment or phone. They become obsolete so quickly that I refuse to hand over more than I have to.
What's the best money advice you've ever gotten?
Carmen: A penny saved is a penny earned. Thanks, Dad.
