Casey Affleck, younger brother of Ben Affleck, is being sued for sexual harassment by a producer -- and he reportedly plans to sue her right back. Affleck, 34, recently wrapped filming on his directorial debut, a partially-fictional documentary about actor Joaquin Phoenix (who also happens to be Casey's brother-in-law). On Friday, Amanda White, one of the documentary's producers, sued Affleck for $2 million dollars, claiming he withheld her paycheck after she refused his sexual advances.
According to White, Affleck tried to get her to share his hotel room midway through shooting, and when she didn't go for the idea, he "became hostile and aggressive," sent her "abusive" text messages, and refused to pay her agreed-upon $50,000 producer fee. White also alleges that Affleck created a hostile work environment by referring to women as "cows," talking about "his sexual exploits and those of other celebrities that he actually witnessed", and employing prostitutes -- allegedly actresses -- "for his personal gratification."
Casey Affleck, who has two young sons with his wife of four years, Summer Phoenix, is denying all charges -- and plans to file a countersuit. His lawyer claims that White is seeking revenge because she was fired from the film over a year ago. "She and her lawyers believe that this maliciously and erroneously filed complaint will cause the producers to succumb to her outrageous and baseless demands," Affleck's lawyer wrote in a statement. "She is mistaken. The complaint will be vigorously defended and cross-claims will be filed against her." White is seeking compensation for seven charges, including sexual harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
White's suit against Affleck was filed just one day after another high-profile sexual harassment suit against actor David Boreanaz (Bones).
