Was ex-Saturday Night Live star Casey Wilson fired because of her weight?
Ted Casablanca of E! Online wrote after Wilson’s departure that the reason she was fired was because of her weight.
According to E! Online’s “inside comedy sources,” the SNL producers wanted Wilson to lose 30 pounds over the summer. Wilson didn’t lose any weight and she was replaced from the show along with Michaela Watkins for Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad.
Wilson has made her first comments since the story broke earlier this week and she denies any rumors about her weight being a factor.
"I had an amazing time on SNL, and these rumors are completely untrue," Wilson told People in an exclusive statement. “And to clarify, the issue isn't that I'm too fat, it's that I'm too phat. Can I get a WHAT-WHAT!"
A SNL rep also told People that "there is absolutely no truth" to the reports.
You have to love someone who can make the most out of a bad situation. I'm confident Wilson will land on her feet and has a long comedy career in front of her.
Whether the rumors are true or not, asking someone to lose 30 pounds in order to keep their job is hardly fair.
While Wilson is a curvy woman, would they ever ask Kenan Thompson to lose 30 pounds? Of course not!
Do you think there’s still a double standard when it comes to weight between men and women on television?
