If you've been pining away for more reality cooking action ever since the finale of Top Chef, you'll be thrilled with Bravo's newest competition, Around the World in 80 Plates, premiering tonight.
Hosted by Aussie chef/heartthrob Curtis Stone and Iron Chef Cat Cora, Around the World in 80 Plates brings 12 chefs to exotic locales where they (very quickly!) learn about regional cuisine and perform challenges that test their technical chops. Each episode, the contestants take over a local restaurant, cook a menu of dishes typical to the locale, and serve them up to locals, restaurant owners and celeb judges. (Envision Top Chef's restaurant wars with an international spin.)
Unlike Top Chef, Around the World in 80 Plates leaves the daunting task of eliminating the weakest link to the contestants of the losing team and not a panel of celebrity judges. With $150,000 on the line for the winner and faraway stops like Argentina, Thailand and Uruguay, we'll be glued to the screen all summer long. The competition kicks off in London, May 9 on Bravo at 10 p.m. ET.
