Celeb Strategy: Modified Skater Lunge

“The biggest mistake people make when striving to look like their favorite celebrities is that they jump in too fast and do too much, which can lead to injury and frustration,” explains Pasternak. “Instead, the key is to find safe and effective exercises that minimize your gym time.” His advice: Do the following moves one after the other and then repeat the whole series from the beginning (twice through this circuit takes 20 minutes). Strive for three times a week and you’ll be on your way to a “Born This Way” body without hours at the gym!

Star Secret: “Lady Gaga loves that this move targets her butt without putting a lot of stress on her knees -- since she already puts a lot of high impact on her joints during her stage shows,” says Pasternak.

Stand with your feet together, your chest lifted, your shoulders back and each hand holding a 3 to 5 pound dumbbell at your side. Step to the side with your right foot and cross your left leg behind your right, your left toes on the ground, heel lifted, about 2 feet between your legs. Your left knee should be facing forward. Then, keeping your body upright, slowly lower your left knee towards the floor bringing your hands (and the dumbbells) close to the lower part of your shin. Push off with your left foot and return to the starting position. Repeat this move 15 times on your right leg, then switch to your left.
