The Sandy Hook shooting have prompted citizens, politicians and, now, dozens of celebrities to "demand a plan" to stop gun violence.
In a new public service announcement for Demand a Plan (watch it below), a campaign from Mayors Against Illegal Guns, to prevent future gun tragedies by passing legislation to require criminal background checks for every gun sold in the U.S., banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and making gun trafficking a federal crime, stars including moms like Beyoncé, Jessica Alba, Christina Applegate, Amy Poehler, Busy Philipps, Debra Messing, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, Brooke Shields, Courteney Cox, Julianne Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow, deliver the message: "How many more? Enough. Demand a plan. Right now. As a mom. As a dad. As a friend. As a husband. As a wife. As an American. As a human being. For the children of Sandy Hook...We can do better than this. It's time for our leaders to act."
Of course, mock videos have already surfaced, pointing out that many of the celebs in the PSA have appeared in movies that glamorize gun violence. Since research has shown that images of violence in the media can contribute to aggressive behavior in kids and desensitize them to violence, we hope that celebs will also reconsider the roles they take in the future.
