Dear Celebrities: Stop Showing Us Your Rear Ends (Thank You)

From Kim Kardashian to Rihanna, we're being bombarded by booty selfies from stars.

Celebrities, back away from your camera phones, please. Actually, don't do that. Just turn them off. We've seen enough of your backsides.

There's an irritating trend in famous person social media these days, no butts about it.

Stars are snapping their rear ends, and sending the photos out to all their Instagram followers to see. And really, it's got to stop. Why?

Because we already know that Ke$ha has a nice derriere.

Rihanna, of course, is a backside-flaunting veteran. Here is one of her more demure booty shots in comparison. Still, she wonders why that mosque in Abu Dhabi finds her inappropriate?

And while we understand that it is her signature body part, we're not sure why Kim Kardashian has to show it to us all the time. (We get it. Even pregnancy can't destroy your hot bod.)

And did we really need to see the sunburn on Heidi Klum's butt so, ahem, up close and personal?

On the other hand, maybe we should be grateful that so far, not everyone has chosen to follow Nicki Minaj's lead. Check out this recent, uh, what would you call this? A breast selfie? A breastie?

It all seems to be part of the self-image messaging that pop culture-savvy young women are getting hit with every day of their lives. Be thin! But have a rounded backside! And big boobs! No wonder plastic surgery is on the rise in this country.

As Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones tweeted controversially recently, "This week's celeb news takeaway: she who comes closest to showing the actual inside of her vagina is most popular. #stopactinglikewhores." Though we flinched with the "stop acting like whores" hashtag, we agree with her follow-up point:

That's advice we can get behind.
