Just one year after Charlie Sheen surrendered custody of his two daughters to ex-wife Denise Richards, he’s now staring down a potentially uglier custody battle with soon-to-be-ex-wife Brooke Mueller. The Two and a Half Men actor and real-estate investor married in May 2008 (Sheen’s third marriage, Mueller’s first), and had twins Bob and Max in March 2009. But their relationship ended violently just a few months later, when Sheen was arrested on Christmas day for allegedly holding a knife to his wife’s throat and threatening to kill her during a drunken fight. (He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault.) Both parents spent time in rehab, and when Mueller officially filed for divorce in November 2010, they settled on joint legal custody (with Sheen paying child support). However, Mueller still wanted to limit Sheen’s visitation rights -- and she got her opportunity in March 2011, when Sheen had his very public media meltdown. The day after a 20/20 special revealed that Sheen was raising the boys with his two live-in girlfriends, Mueller had the twins removed by the police and taken to an undisclosed location. She also filed a restraining order against Sheen, claiming that he had abused her multiple times and was now threatening to kill her.
The Decision: As of right now, Sheen has been temporarily stripped of custody. However, Mueller admits to relapsing in her drug use over the past 18 months. Sheen claims that Mueller’s restraining order is full of "lies," and says he will fight for custody because the boys are safer in his house than hers.
