The world mourned as news broke that anti-apartheid leader and former South African President Nelson Mandela died on Dec. 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa at the age of 95. The current South African President Jacob Zuma stated about the freedom fighter's death, “Our nation has lost its greatest son,” and also added that Mandela had died at 8:50 p.m. local time. “His humility, his compassion and his humanity earned him our love.” President Zuma also said that South Africa’s thoughts were with the Mandela family. “They have sacrificed much and endured much so that our people could be free,” he declared.
