'Celebrity Wife Swap' Pairs Revealed!

We take a look at the couples that will swap spouses on the ABC show in January and rate how strongly the pairings make us cringe

Who would be crazy enough to sign up for Celebrity Wife Swap? You got it -- a bunch of fading celebs, most of whom have already appeared on at least one other reality show in a sad attempt to revive their flagging careers. Then again, it could be argued that reality-show-hopping is a career these days.

ABC's Celebrity Wife Swap will premiere on January 3rd at 9 p.m. ET, and yes, the network has announced its roster of celebs making switcheroos. We went ahead and rated the pairings on the Cringe-Worthy Meter, assigning anywhere between five stars and one star -- five stars being the most lowbrow of the couplings.

Five Stars on the Cringe-Worthy Meter

Serious-actor-turned-serial-reality star Gary Busey will swap partners with disgraced evangelical leader Ted Haggard. This scenario features two men who are famous for all the wrong reasons. In Haggard's case, it's for cheating on his wife -- with a man. In Busey's case, it's for a litany of legal troubles, ranging from domestic abuse charges to drug possession. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when Haggard was talking his wife into this. Hasn't he put the woman through enough?

Five Stars on the Cringe-Worthy Meter

Tracey Gold, the troubled child actress from Growing Pains whose known best for her struggle with anorexia, will switch with former Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson, who's known for stapling her stomach in a drastic move to lose weight. Both women have already used TV shows to examine their unhealthy body issues; no doubt they were paired up to delve into those issues once again. Does this smack of exploitation on ABC's part? Or have these women made a deal with the devil that requires them to publicly wrestle with their issues for the rest of their lives?

Four Stars on the Cringe-Worthy Meter

Former Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav, who actually surpasses Busey in the number of trashy reality shows he's already done, will switch wives with Twisted Sister frontman, Dee Snider. Both men have helmed their own reality shows (VH1's Flavor of Love and A&E's Growing Up Twisted), so they know just how to leave any sense of class at the door, and really yuk it up for the cameras.

Two Stars on the Cringe-Worthy Meter

Pro wrestler Mick Foley (who may or may not have been talked into this by his friend Dee Snider) will trade wives with actor/underwear model Antonio Sabato Jr. Really, this one is just sad for how desperate their participation makes these guys seem.

One Star on the Cringe-Worthy Meter

Former Reno 911! star Niecy Nash will change places with Tina Yothers (who played kid sister Jennifer on Family Ties). Neither of these women have had any rehab stints or rap sheets or cheating scandals to their names. So only one star for tackiness, and that's because they both agreed to do this silly show.

We'll give the show a fair shot in January, when we tune in. After all, these set-ups might need to be seen to be believed.
