Chad Johnson, known to NFL and Dancing with the Stars fans as Chad Ochocinco, was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly head-butting his new wife.
According to a police report, the assault occurred during an argument between the Miami Dolphins wide receiver and wife Evelyn Lozado. The couple was reportedly unpacking groceries in their driveway on Saturday night when Lozado found a receipt for a box of condoms in the trunk of their car. When she confronted Johnson, he allegedly grabbed her and head-butted her, then began screaming, "I don't give a [expletive]! I don't give a [expletive] about my career!" Lozado then ran to a neighbor's house to call the police.
Johnson, in his own statement, told police that his wife head-butted him. However, the police report confirms that Lozado was the one with an injury; specifically, "a laceration on her forehead approximately 3" in length." Based on the statements and the evidence, an officer placed Johnson under arrest, while his wife was sent to the hospital.
The 34-year-old football star faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. He and his wife have been ordered to have no contact.
Johnson and Lozada, a former cast member on VH1's Basketball Wives, were married on July 4. (Two weeks later, he announced that he was changing his name back to Johnson from Ochocinco at his wife's request.) Awkwardly, the couple's new reality show about their romance, Ev and Ocho, was set to premiere on Sept. 3 on VH1 -- however, after news broke of his arrest, the network announced that they were cancelling the series. "Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it," VH1 said in a statement Monday.
