Chad Ochocinco's heeding Beyonce's advice: If you like it, put a ring on it! While there's still speculation as to whether it's actually a diamond engagement ring, Ochocinco, 32, insists that the bling -- reportedly worth $10,000 -- he gave to his Dancing with the Stars partner Cheryl Burke is "A thank you. It's a gift. A friendly gift. In my world, we tend to give those that we care about gifts."
Meanwhile, Burke, 25, wasn't nearly as subtle about whether or not the ring from the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver meant something else entirely, telling Entertainment Tonight, "(He) gave it to me in the trailer on one knee. And it's on my ring finger." When asked if it was in fact a proposal to be Mrs. Ochocinco, she coyly replied, "You never know."
Burke certainly seemed in love with her new accessory (she joked she "fainted a little" when he presented it to her), as she tweeted yesterday to fans, "Got a little something accessory wise tonight from a very special person. Thank you @OGOchocinco! I adore you!!"
Ochocinco has not been shy about his feelings for his dance-pro partner on the show. He even told ET, "She's made me smile for seven weeks now," but he also acknowledged, "We have to keep it extremely professional in order for us to succeed at what we're doing."
While the dancing pairs all face elimination tonight, Ochocinco may be able to breathe a little easier as Burke has helped two celebrities, including former NFL star Emmitt Smith, emerge victorious on the show.
