Just a week before the end of his probation, troubled actor Charlie Sheen was taken to the hospital early Tuesday morning after he was reportedly found naked and under the influence in a room at New York City's Plaza Hotel.
"Police responded to a call for an intoxicated male," a source tells People. The 45-year-old actor, who recently did another stint in rehab, was taken to the hospital "for alcohol abuse and psychological evaluation."
A police source reiterated that Sheen "was irrational and intoxicated." He was accompanied to the hospital by his ex-wife Denise Richards. The Two and a Half Men star and his ex had taken their two daughters -- Lola, 5, and Sammy, 6 -- to a Broadway show on Sunday, but the New York Post reports that the actor's behavior took a turn, as he allegedly had a call girl in his room and had damaged several items, including a chandelier.
Following the incident, questions arose as to whether Sheen had violated the terms of his three-month probation (which was set to end Nov. 2). But, as E! Online reports, Sheen voluntarily went to the hospital and was not arrested. Though if it's proven that he was using drugs or "excessive amounts of alcohol" he could still be found in violation.
Despite the reports of intoxication, Sheen's rep and attorney are insisting alcohol had nothing to do with the incident. "What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be released tomorrow," the actor's rep said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Sheen's attorney backed up the claims to E! News. "Charlie is being evaluated and should be released tomorrow," he said. "We think he had an allergic reaction to some medicine." He went on to say he didn't think Sheen did anything illegal.
