Chelsea Handler is not known for being shy or holding any of her opinions back (witness her recent attacks on Angelina Jolie!), and Tuesday on Piers Morgan Tonight she confirmed rumors that, yes, she had indeed dated rapper 50 Cent.
"We dated, very casually," she told Morgan. "I was just sampling, kind of, the atmosphere and seeing what was out there. I'm satiated." (Watch a clip from the interview below.)
When Morgan asked Handler what 50 Cent was like, Handler replied, "He's fun. He's a great guy... He's the complete antithesis of what you would imagine him to be... He's sweet, funny, he's got a great sense of humor."
In last month's Vibe, the 35-year-old rapper was equally complimentary towards Handler, saying, "Chelsea is confident. I think confidence is the sexiest thing about a person. She's the kind of person that if you're blessed with the opportunity to hang out with her, you'll enjoy it."
It sounds like the connection between the unlikely pair was quite genuine, even if she did confirm the rumor that she and Fiddy broke up when she returned gifts he had sent her. "I don't like to receive gifts from rappers. I'm not a hooker," she joked. "I don't like when men buy me ridiculous gifts, especially when I don't know them well. I can buy my own gifts."
They had always seemed like a very strange couple, to put it mildly. Shortly after Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson appeared on Handler's talk show Chelsea Lately, the two were seen cozying up together in New Orleans, sparking rumors that a romance was in the works.
Handler at first denied the rumors, taking to her Twitter feed to say, "Everyone, calm down. I met with Mr. Cent about a potential project." Handler's autobiographical best-selling books, like My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands, are often chronicles of her mostly disastrous dealings with men, and there was speculation that Handler was hanging out with Fiddy to generate more material, for either her show or a new book. It was hard to keep the denials going, however, once Handler posted a picture on Twitter of the two kissing in bed, along with the caption: "I don't know why anyone thinks I would ever date a rapper."
Though romance didn't last, it's nice to see that they only have nice things to say about each other, a refreshing change from the usually acrimonious celebrity-breakup rhetoric.
Recently, Handler went public with her new beau, hotelier Andre Balazs, after they were seen making out at Sundance. Of their budding romance, she told Morgan: "I have strong feelings (for him)."
