Cher doesn't joke around when it comes to people picking on her kid. The international superstar, 65, had some choice words for "stupid bigots" criticizing her transgender son Chaz Bono's decision to join Dancing with the Stars.
After learning about all of the haters in the blogosphere -- many of whom were threatening to boycott the family-friendly show for including both a gay and a transgender contestant this season -- the iconic singer-actress took to Twitter to defend her son, the first transgendered contestant on ABC's hit reality series. "Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS!" she twittered. "This is Still America right? It took guts 2 do it."
The Emmy-Grammy-Oscar winner has responded in full mama-lion mode protecting her young, and she encourages her legions of fans to show her son some support, adding that she won't easily forget who's attacking Chaz across the Internet.
"Can u guys check out sites & give him your support ? BTW ...Mothers don't stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who fk with their children!"
Sounds like Cher is ready to duke it out with anyone dissing her FTM son. And, what's more, she thinks he'll become a fan favorite on the show. "bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS !" she twittered. "it's took Fkg Guts 2! Chaz isn't exactly the 'Gotta Dance Gotta Dance'kinda Guy."
Dancing with the Stars (ABC, Mondays and Tuesdays, 8 p.m. ET) premieres Monday Sept. 19 and will feature Chaz paired with Lacey Schwimmer, ABC revealed Wednesday on Good Morning America.
