'Alice in Wonderland' (2010)

Directed by Tim Burton and starring his favorite leading man, Johnny Depp, as the Mad Hatter, this movie tallied box office results that were pretty wonderful -- unlike the response when Lewis Carroll first published his most famous book (illustrated by John Tenniel) back in 1865. It's been said that critics hated Alice's Adventures in Wonderland because it encouraged imagination and lacked a moral at the end of the story. Imagine their horror at Burton's wild and wacky adaptation then!
