Apparently actress Chloe Sevigny isn't familiar with the saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Especially when it pertains to your employer! In a new interview with AV Club (the arts and entertainment section distributed inside The Onion newspapers), Sevigny candidly called the latest season of her HBO series Big Love "awful."
Sevigny, 35, who plays snippy Nicolette on the HBO drama, also called the season's main storyline about Bill (Bill Paxton) running for public office"very far fetched" and added that it "was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself."
The fashion-forward actress, who snagged a Golden Globe earlier this year for her work on the show, said her costars (who play her sister-wives on the polygamy-themed series) Ginnifer Goodwin and Jeanne Tripplehorn were equally displeased with how this past season transpired. "Me and the girls definitely were not very happy with where it was going,” Sevigny said.
She blamed a condensed HBO schedule for writers "pushing it" this year and went on to reassure fans, "I think next season, they’re going to go back to more just the family. I hope the fans will stick with us and tune in next year."
The actress had multiple foot-in-mouth moments during the interview, including when she said called the show "awful," then realizing "I’m not allowed to say that!" She also later caught the error of her ways when she said, "God, I'm going to get in so much trouble."
But, Sevigny didn't have all bad things to say about her show, especially about playing Nicolette: "My character is often quite comedic," adding, "I get a lot of zingers. She’s hilarious." Still, the actress may be regretting her candor -- after all, when it comes to sniping about her show's writing, we all know how that worked out for Katherine Heigl's public image!
