Celebrity choreographer Shane Sparks, who has appeared on So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew, was arrested on Friday for nine counts of child molestation. Sparks was released on $590,000 bai.

"There's one victim, and it occurred in the '90s. I believe it started in '94 and went on for several years," Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office told E! News. "It's an underage girl. She was under 15 when the alleged crimes occurred. She is an adult now and came forward to authorities."

Steve Meister, Shane's criminal defense lawyer, tells UsMagazine.com that the choreographer is "an innocent man. He is wrongly accused."

The attorney claims his client is being extorted. "This entire case wreaks of opportunism and exploitation and it stinks to high heaven."

"The timing of these accusations is incredibly suspicious," the lawyer adds. "It's easy to make something up when it happened 15 years ago and there's no evidence to support it."

Shane's rep says the dancer is a "strong person and a solid person," and admits that he's "very shaken by all of this. [He] is resolute and committed to proving his innocence."
