Chris Brown Fails Random Drug Test, Faces Probation Violation

Rihanna was praying for her ex when he went to court on Monday for reportedly testing positive for marijuana

Chris Brown could be in some major trouble after failing a random drug test in Virginia.

The 23-year-old R&B singer was called into a hearing at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday that revealed Brown had apparently tested positive for marijuana after a drug test last June, Zap2It reports. Though the judge on the case has decided that there will be a follow-up hearing on Nov. 1, Brown's defense is that he used the drug in California where he has a medical marijuana card but then was caught with it in his system in Virginia. This could be considered a violation of the court-ordered probation and community service he received after he attacked ex-girlfriend Rihanna three years ago.

Prosecutors are claiming that this is just one of several ways that "Brown wasn't behaving himself" and adhering to his probation limitations, saying he has also "violated travel restrictions." The Grammy winner was allowed to complete his community service hours in both California and Virginia (the state he was born in) but there have been some assertions of inconsistencies between the hours he's recorded and the actual work he's done.

The judge on the case, Patricia Schnegg, offered up some words of wisdom for Brown before she sent him on his way.

"I'm not going to order a subsequent drug test, but this is my advice to you: You are not an average person. A lot of people look up to you, a lot of kids. What you do and what you say impacts a lot of people," she reportedly said. "I'm going to caution you. You should be very mindful of obeying all laws and rules."

For her part, Rihanna was in full support of Brown as he went into his hearing Monday.

"Praying for you baby, my best wishes are with you today! Remember that whatever God does in our lives, it is WELL DONE!!! #1Love" she tweeted. "@chrisbrown I'm praying for you and wishing u the best today!"

He responded with a simple, "thank u so much."

Following Brown's assault of Rihanna back in 2009, the "Look At Me Now" singer has completed a 52-week domestic-violence education and anger management classes. He still has to finish his court-ordered 180 hours of community service. Brown's probation is set to end in August 2014.

In recent months, Rihanna has made it clear that she's not holding a grudge against her ex -- and rumors flew that they might be reigniting their relationship when she kissed him on the lips following her win at the 2012 Video Music Awards. She also has said that she considers him her soul mate. Brown, meanwhile, is still dating 22-year-old model Karrueche Tran.
