Initial reports, including one from Global Grind, claimed that Drake himself was involved in the melee, and that he and Brown may have sparred over Rihanna, to whom they've both been romantically linked.
(For those of you who need a quick refresher, Brown, 23, and Rihanna, 24, dated until 2009, when they split after he brutally assaulted her. Rihanna then briefly dated Drake, 25. In recent months, however, tabloid reports have claimed that Rihanna was secretly hooking up with Brown and that she had rekindled things with Drake.)
According to TMZ's sources, however, Rihanna was not the cause of the brouhaha, and -- what's more -- Drake claims that he wasn't even at the club at the time of the altercation (which, judging by the photo TMZ posted, caused a helluva lot of carnage).
"Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began," Drake's rep insists to TMZ. "[Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property."
So what exactly did happen, and who was involved? According to TMZ's eyewitness, the altercation began when Brown and rapper Meek Mill, who was sitting at Drake's table, began screaming at each other. Members of Brown and Drake's entourages soon got in a scuffle, and that's when Mill allegedly hit Brown with a bottle.
Brown later tweeted a picture of his face, which showed a nasty gash on his chin, and wrote: "How u party wit rich n*****s that hate? Lol... Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!" Both the tweets (yes, there were others) and the photo have since been removed.
Five other people were injured during the fight and taken to a local hospital; four of those people were innocent bystanders, according to the NY Daily News. One of the men, a 25-year-old who suffered a head wound, was in serious condition.
