So all those reports that Chris Brown has given up on rehab? They're not exactly true.
Brown did indeed leave a Malibu rehab facility just 16 days after checking in. However, he is still receiving treatment, reportedly for anger management issues. "Chris is continuing his rehab program as an outpatient and is also completing his community service in the Los Angeles area," his rep told Us Weekly. "He appreciates all your encouragement and support."
Brown voluntarily checked into the facility following an arrest on suspicion of assault in Washington, D.C., last month. (If convicted, he could face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.) "His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point," his spokesperson said in a statement at the time. The community service hours he is currently completing stem from his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. If prosecutors determine he violated his probation in that case, Brown could be looking at four years behind bars.
But it's not all work and self-reflection for the R&B star. He spent his first hours out of rehab partying with on-again, off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran around L.A. TMZ caught up with Brown outside of a nightclub Thursday night; when asked if he had found God in rehab, the singer responded: "I've always had God."
But it looks like his stay at the Malibu facility did have an impact on the star: TMZ reports that Brown has decided to sell his $1.5 million home in the Hollywood Hills and has plans to relocate to the beach community. "Chris wrote an offer on a house in Malibu in an exclusive, gated community where a bunch of other high-profile celebrities live," according to the site.
Is Brown serious about leaving his checkered past behind him this time? Moving closer to his treatment center may be, well... a move in the right direction.
